If this ends up being stable ill try to full install again and start disabling everything I can and see if I can pinpoint something causing the issue. Edit: No crash after trying to induce if for a few hours (big improvement). Seems to have worked. Will update again for longer term testing then try to narrow down the issue with the full install.
Crash on startup with /nolightfx. Dying Light 2. Trying to play on Steam. So the game is so "polished" that it just crashes on startup. Black window goes full screen and exits after ~2-3s and then nothing. I tried /nolightfx but it did not have any effect. I already updated GPU drivers.
3) Now it goes in black screen again but you hear the music and the gameplay yet you cannot make it be seen. 4) Now I needed to type ctrl+alt+del but still the screen remains black. Now press 5 times the down arrow key so the option is on to abort and click enter. 5) The game is now playable in full screen for me.
Ensure that Dying Light 2 is not running in the background, and open up your Steam library. Right-click Dying Light 2 and select Properties. Steam library > Dying Light 2 > Properties. In the Local Files tab, select Verify integrity of game files. Redownloading and replacing any missing or corrupted game files will take a minute.
I’m not sure since I’m not on PC, I wish I could help more :( I usually keep track of posts that offer fixes that have worked for others, but I have no way of testing them if they are on PC I’m afraid
You should be able to fix it by going to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Dying Light\_CommonRedist\DirectX\Jun2010 and running DXSETUP. Then go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Dying Light\_CommonRedist\vcredist There are 2 files, 2010 and 2012, run the exe for 32 or 64 bit ,depending on your OS, from both folders.
According to reports, the crashes occur mid-game and sometimes even during the startup menu. One player suggested this issue can potentially be fixed by performing a soft install. UPDATE: Just did a soft install and it seems to have fixed it! Thanks for the help. But crashes are not the only issues in the new 2.0 update.
Crash on startup For whatever reason DL has decided that it doesn't want to start anymore, which is particularly annoying because me and my buddies were on the last mission Changes/things I tried since the last time we played (3 days ago):
Press the Steam button on Steam Deck to open Settings. Scroll down in the sidebar and select Storage. Select the Dying Light 2 game that you want to uninstall. Now, press the X key to Uninstall the game. Wait for the game to be deleted completely. Once done, reinstall the Dying Light 2 game via the Steam Store again.
Here's how to fix these kinds of issues: Make sure to disable Antivirus protection against the game, or whitelist Dying Light 2. Unplug external USB devices that aren't neccesary for gameplay and newer headsets. Uninstall and reinstall GPU drivers. Disable RTX.
